The Knick
Set in downtown New York in 1900, 'The Knick' is centered on the Knickerbocker Hospital and its staff, notably Dr. John Thackery, the hospital's brilliant chief surgeon who pushes medicine's boundaries, pioneering new procedures despite a severe drug addiction.

Brilliantly shot and wonderfully acted, I regret that I didn't watch this when it came out a decade ago. Steven Soderbergh crafted a masterpiece in this series, from the wonderously long uninterrupted tracking camera shots to the gritty turn-of-the-century realism of New York City, to the broken antiheros - I just can't say enough good things about this show. Not for the faint of heart, as it does portray medical surgeries in the most graphic sense, the series uses actual historical events (such as Typhoid Mary) to great dramatic effect. A fantastic performance from Clive Owen (and everyone else!!!), spend some time at The Knick. You won't regret it.
