While steaming from Honolulu to Los Angeles the owner of a prize racehorse headed for the "Santa Juanita" Handicap is killed, apparently kicked to death by his stallion. Not so, deduces Charlie. Later he exposes efforts to fix a race at the famous track.

I remember watching this on TV as a kid with my parents and absolutely loving the main character.
It’s definitely a product of its time, something that couldn’t be made today, but that’s what makes it so fascinating.
You have to watch it with the 1930s in mind to really appreciate its humor, style and cultural context.
A nostalgic and eye opening experience.
