Following in his father's footsteps, a detective works to solve a murder case and save his police department from closure.
Few reboots manage to capture the absurd, rapid-fire brilliance of their predecessors, but The Naked Gun (2025) does so with ease—and then pushes the ridiculousness even further. Where so many modern comedies stumble into crude gags or empty pop-culture references, this film thrives on razor-sharp wit, escalating absurdity, and an unshakable commitment to silliness that feels true to the spirit of the original series. At the center of the chaos is Liam Neeson, whose full-hearted dedication to the role is hilarious. With his trademark gravitas, every line delivery becomes twice as funny—whether he’s barking out nonsensical police jargon or walking into a room where coffee cups always appear out of nowhere. His commitment to taking every absurd situation seriously is exactly what made Leslie Nielsen’s original performance so beloved, and Neeson honors that legacy while giving it his own over-the-top spin. Perhaps the biggest surprise comes from Pamela Anderson, who proves herself a perfect comedic co-lead. Her timing, self-awareness, and willingness to lean into the lunacy elevate the film far beyond a one-man show. She matches Neeson beat for beat, giving the movie its heart while still reveling in its ridiculousness. The highlight, however, is the utterly bonkers romantic getaway sequence involving the pair on a snowy retreat. What begins as a cliché romance setup veers into comedic madness with spells, slapstick sorcery, and a horny, vindictive snowman. It’s so weird and out there that it’s the most unexpected funniest part of the film. In a landscape where comedies these days often default to raunch or dated references, The Naked Gun (2025) is a refreshing reminder of how smart, ridiculous, and joyous slapstick can be when done with wit and precision. It doesn’t talk down to its audience, nor does it hide behind gross-out humor. Instead, it commits to clever chaos, escalating gags, and pure fun.
