⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (out of 5) Murder in a Small Town – The Quietest Place to Die Repeatedly
If you’ve ever wondered how a town of a few hundred people can sustain a murder rate that would terrify Blue Lights, welcome home. Murder in a Small Town is that perfect blend of cosy and creepy — a show where every charming picket fence hides a secret, and every neighbour is one argument away from becoming a suspect.
Kristin Kreuk shines here, bringing warmth and quiet tension to a town where no one should trust the person pouring their morning coffee. The dynamic between her character and the local widower-with-a-daughter adds a sweet undertone — the child’s subtle sabotage of their romance is both maddening and perfectly believable.
This isn’t grimdark (Blue Lights WH40K) nor saccharine (Death in Paradise fairy-tale tropics); it’s somewhere deliciously in between — a well-baked crime soufflé, fluffy on top with a body count underneath. It’s charming, suspenseful, and somehow comforting despite the corpses.
Pairing: A mug of hot cocoa spiked with whiskey — soothing, suspiciously strong, and best enjoyed while double-checking that your doors are locked.
