Plasticine animation of Wallace and Gromit, inventors of all manner of useful devices. Gromit (a dog) finds himself being pushed out of his room and home by a new lodger who is actually a ruthless criminal (and a small penguin). The penguin is planning a robbery and needs to use Wallace and his mechanical remote controlled trousers to pull off the raid. However, Gromit is wise to the penguin and comes to the rescue.

The Wrong Trousers is a masterclass in stop-motion storytelling. Wallace gifts Gromit a pair of “Techno Trousers” for his birthday a mechanical pants meant to take Gromit on walks. Aardman’s craftsmanship is on full display here. The animation is meticulous, expressive and packed with visual gags. Gromit, as always, is the emotional anchor, silent but endlessly relatable. The story is tight, funny, and suspenseful, with a classic three act structure that feels effortlessly cinematic. But at just 30 minutes, it’s over before you know it. The Wrong Trousers is a near perfect blend of comedy, suspense and claymation artistry. It’s not for everyone, especially those who prefer longer, more conventional formats, but for fans of clever animation and storytelling, it’s a gem that still shines.
