Genuinely unsettling. Easy to anticipate as some sort of generic found footage junk and when giving a chance you'll discover the style was only used to enhance the narrative when necessary. Shelby Oaks is a properly executed production even if on a limited budget. You'll only catch its wavelength if you allow yourself to be immersed. If you ride along the ride, the film is a rewarding experience.
Shelby Oaks certainly pulls influences from other found footage counterparts like Lake Mungo, Blair Witch Project, and The Taking of Deborah Logan though venturing down darker avenues.
