One of my favorite characters of all time is Ash Williams of the Evil Dead franchise. Army Of Darkness was by far the goofiest. Between the issues with the studio and the producer and the fact that it’s a hard sell with its stop motion skeletons, Three Stooges inspired gags, cheesy one liners and a lead who is meant to be a coward and braggart, this movie was doomed to fail and become a cult classic. This documentary explores the difficult making of the film where it taxed the VFX crew to a point of near exhaustion, cause Bill Mosley to shout at Sam Raimi halfway through shooting “I ALSO ACT!” The story behind this film is fun. The anecdotes were enjoyable and Bruce Campbell just knows how to charm when he speaks. The doc wasn’t bad, but there was nothing new really gleaned from watching it. I just had fun walking down memory lane with them for a longer than Army Of Darkness, ironically. It’s a fun watch for fans. If you have never seen Army Of Darkness, watch it, see if you like it. If you do, great, watch this fun behind the scenes look of a movie that somehow was made despite the odds.
