Gangs of New York

In early 1860s New York, Irish immigrant Amsterdam Vallon is released from prison and returns to the Five Points, seeking revenge against his father's killer, William Cutting, a powerful anti-immigrant gang leader. He knows that revenge can only be attained by infiltrating Cutting's inner circle. Vallon's journey becomes a fight for personal survival and to find a place for the Irish people.
Love the story, love the acting and most of all I love Daniel Day Lewis. And epic film for an epic actor. He truly makes you belive he is Bill The Butcher, fully immersed in the character and story. I like to revisit this one from time to time to "see" the old neighborhoods in Lower Manhattan. I don't think many if not all of those streets still exist today except for Mulburry Street and Mott Street (my fave in modern Manhattan). The movie takes place in the 5 points neighborhood what is now Chinatown.
