Never knew this existed, stumbled onto it while streaming and it felt like unearthing a pulp relic from Gotham’s deep vault. Before Adam West, before Michael Keaton, there was Robert Lowery’s Batman and Johnny Duncan’s Robin, battling The Wizard in a 15 part serial that’s pure cliffhanger fuel. The villain? A madman with a remote control device that hijacks vehicles. The stakes? Gotham’s safety and Bruce Wayne’s secret identity, with Vicki Vale snooping around and Commissioner Gordon calling the shots. The tone? Earnest, low budget and packed with post war charm. The costumes are modest, the Batcave is more broom closet than tech lair and the action is delightfully clunky. But the spirit? Unmistakably heroic. It’s Batman stripped down to his pulp roots, gadgets, disguises and a whole lot of running. Watching it on Plex feels like discovering a forgotten comic strip come to life. It’s not polished, but it’s historic, a glimpse into how the Caped Crusader first leapt from page to screen.
