Oh. What. Fun.

Claire Clauster is the glue that holds her chaotic, lovable family together at the holidays. But this year, after planning a special outing for them, they make a crucial mistake and leave her home alone. Fed up and feeling under appreciated, she sets off on an impromptu adventure of her own. As her family scrambles to find her, Claire discovers the unexpected magic of a Christmas gone off-script.
Oh. Not. Fun. I really really wanted to love this movie. After all, the cast is pretty good and the trailer gives a certain amount of “Family Stone” vibes. Sadly, I found the whole movie to feel tense… the scenes strained. Perhaps what it was is that I didn’t really LIKE anyone in the movie. There’s so much fighting without a balance of meaningful moments between characters. I was most disappointed that Pfeiffer’s character ending up displaying as unhinged-but-not-in-a-funny-way. As a mother, there were some truths uncovered, but there was also a lot of moments from Claire that had me saying “you’re doing this to yourself!!”
