Saw this one on TV in the early '80s.
It was all about the car. KITT wasn’t just a vehicle, he was a sarcastic, bulletproof, turbo-boosted sidekick.
David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight had the hair, the leather jacket and the slow motion exits.
The plots were formulaic: bad guys, explosions, moral lesson, drive off into the sunset.
But as a teen, it felt epic.
The red scanner light, the dashboard voice, the theme music, it all stuck.
KITT was cooler than any superhero. Michael was just the guy pressing buttons.
