I've never been more enthralled by a superhero film like Across the Spider-Verse. Where the hell do I start? The art style is even more phenomenal than the first film. Metro Boomin' picked a spectacular set of bangers for the music, with Daniel Pemberton turning it dark and gritty. The various Spider People were spectacular, and as someone who's played both of Insomniac's games, I was searching for parallels like a Yelp critic looking for free food. The best of all? The story and the acting. We've always seen Spider-Man / Spider-Woman / Spider...Pig? fight the good fight, and there inevitably comes a time when a sacrifice too great must be made - one that threatens to unravel our superhero. This time, though, it's unravelling the entire universe. The emotion lines is unavoidably palpable, and I've not been on the edge of my seat for a film or a show in many, many years. Not until this one. 200% worth the watch - I know I'll be watching it again.
