Watching how a community coped with isolation, fear, shifting alliances, and scarce resources was compelling from the very first episode. The cast was spot-on, especially the leads, who grounded the series with relatable emotion and grit. The near-present setting meant the show didn’t rely heavily on special effects—its strength was always the characters and the unfolding mystery of what happened to the rest of the country. But like many fans, I was eagerly waiting for the world of Jericho to expand outward. As the story finally began branching beyond the town’s borders, the series was just hitting its stride. You could feel the larger narrative building: conspiracies, fractured states, new governments, and the bigger picture behind the attacks. Unfortunately, it didn’t get the seasons it needed to grow. Jericho had solid writing, great characters, and enormous potential—cut short far too soon.

Seriál vypráví o skupině cizích lidí, jež se najednou ocitnou pohromadě za velmi nezvyklých podmínek. Musejí se spolu naučit žít – a nejen to, jednat tak, aby přežili. Nenacházejí se ovšem na neznámém ostrově, ale v kansaském městě Jericho. Na obzoru nad městem se totiž objeví atomový hřib. Obyvatelé jsou vystaveni tváří v tvář děsivému faktu: Ameriku napadli nukleární teroristé. Lidé se ocitnou v naprosté izolaci a mohou se jen dohadovat, zda jsou jediní Američané, kteří zůstali naživu. Když jsou vyřazeny z provozu veškeré zdroje energie a možnosti komunikace, strach z neznámého uvrhne Jericho do všeobecného zmatku. Město se začne hroutit pod náporem teroru a strach i pocit zkázy probouzí v některých obyvatelích města jen to nejhorší.
